Specialty Chemicals Co., LC (AdSpec) announces a new product
to conveniently add extra Percap™ 355 ethyl mercaptan
odorant to LP-Gas tanks. This new product is Supercap™,
which is available in three sizes.
"Odor
fade" is a problem that has plagued the LP-Gas industry
for a number of years. It is well documented that new steel
tanks can absorb, adsorb, or react with the ethyl mercaptan
in LP-Gas, resulting in dangerously low levels of odorant.
Used tanks exposed to air can also present a risk of odor
fade. Installations with new piping may also contribute to
odor fade.
Further,
the odorant level in LP-Gas tanks naturally increases over
the first few fill cycles. A Supercap can accelerate this
natural accumulation, providing additional ethyl mercaptan
at the beginning of new service for a tank or distribution
system, or placing into service a used tank exposed to air.
Supercap
is a unique design that simultaneously provides for ease of
use, reliable operation, and reasonable cost. A Supercap container
is placed in-line between a fill hose and an LP-Gas tank.
Premeasured Percap 355 ethyl mercaptan is contained between
two rupture disks, which burst during the normal transfer
of LP-Gas into a tank.
Supercap
increases the ethyl mercaptan concentration in a newly filled
LP-Gas tank by 2 to 3 times normal odorant level, depending
on the size of the tank. Supercap can also be used to add
odorant to an LP-Gas tank suspected to be under-odorized.
Supercap
is a compact unit. AdSpec's instructions, labeling, quality
system, and Supercap design make the process simple and virtually
foolproof.
The robust
construction of the Supercap prevents leakage concerns and
allows it to be torqued and treated as a typical pipe fitting.
Price
of Supercap is $16.50 to $18.00 for each treatment (depending
on tank size) plus shipping cost, with no deposit.
Empty
containers may be disposed by returning to AdSpec in the original
packaging, with return-shipping cost paid by AdSpec via convenient
label.
