All liquid propane gas (lpg) sold
for residential use - must be odorized by law!

| Propane is naturally odorless and the odorant
added is done so as a warning indicator for a propane leak. However, new
lpg storage tanks often experience a phenomena known as 'odor-fade'. The
tank walls essentially absorb the lpg odorant thus leaving a tank of unodorized
lpg. To eliminate this odor-fade problem, a national organization, the National
Propane Gas Association, NPGA, has researched the problem and made several
recommendations. One of the recommendations made by the NPGA is to super-odorize
any new lpg storage units.
To super-odorize a tank, an additional small amount of odorant needs to be added during the initial tank filling. The problem in the past, to super-odorize a tank, has been a method to distribute the small amount of odorant as well as a method to insert the material into the container with no release of the odorant. AdSpec's new SuperCap resolves this dilemma. Advanced Specialty Chemicals Co., LC (AdSpec) has developed and patented a small single application device, SuperCap, to introduce a pre-measured amount of extra Percap 355 material to help reduce odor fade. The SuperCap comes in three sizes which are able to super-odorize propane tanks ranging in size from 125 to 1000 gallons. SuperCap is safe, reliable and easy to use. SuperCap is a
pre-packaged odorant shipping container and delivery system. The propane
distributor simply removes the brass plugs from the endcaps of the SuperCap
and threads a male acme fitting on one end and a female fitting on the
other. The SuperCap is then threaded onto the lpg tank and the other
end into the distributor's lpg delivery hose. The propane delivery then
proceeds like any other propane delivery. Upon the pressurization of the
delivery hose, the containment disks will burst and the Percap 355
material contained within the SuperCap will be pushed into the new
lpg storage tank. The end result is super-odorized propane. |
